Congratulations for the getting the Super Bowl to Indy in 2012!! Job well done! To help promote the Super Bowl in 2012, t-shirt with the logo used on the back cover for the proposal needs to be made. The revenue generated can be used for the costs associated with the Super Bowl.

WE WON! i know i wont be able to afford to goto the game myself so its important that there are plenty of festivities that could have me make a couple trips to indy before the superbowl. i think the tent idea is pretty good but the main thing we want to accomplish is for everyone to have a time they will never forget and make them want to come back when it is warm. Indy is a great city with plenty to do and plenty of things making it easy to do as little as possible at the same time. For the locals and tens to hundreds of tousands of indiana people that want to join will want an almost spring break like party full of music, food, bars, and friends. This could go on for a full week before the superbowl and then maybe a little post super bowl party. One thing that would be cool is if indy could get rights to show the game on screens in theatres, malls, the imax, anywhere... i hate to see such a huge even be in the area and once the game starts we're all back to where we celebrated every other super bowl.
Chicago, St Louis, Louisville, Columbus, Cincinnati, and Detroit are all in close proximity so we have to make sure there is a large amount of rail and bus travel the entire week. Indy has the potential to have the best super bowl ever, and maybe we'll get lucky and it will randomly hit the mid 60's like it did last january. Congratz to everyone in indiana who helped make this happen and i kno will give out tons of support in the years to come... We aren't just cornfields and race cars and i think its time we let the secret out.
oh and i think major discounts on or free non-alcoholic beverages would be great for those non drinkers and maybe some experimenting from local bars to find a good hot alcoholic beverage (if thats possible??) to keep all those poor people from florida that only bring a wind breaker.

I think Matt and Doug have the right idea. Our "nightlife" is very sedate in terms of other cities the Superbowl has been held in. We have family driven things to do,... but unless we want them thinking that we all party at the local Walmart, Kroger's, Denny's (Some of our few 24 hour vendors) then we had better start thinking ahead.

I like the idea of a Superbowl Village in downtown Indianapolis. Given the time of year and the possibilities of weather related issues and I like the tent idea. I think it would be interesting to consider putting a large tent like structure over the circle with the center of the tent being held up by the monument. The tent could be supported by the surrounding buildings on either side and extend one block north-south (Washington to Ohio on Meridian) and one block east and west (Penn to Illinois on Market). It doesn't have to be enclosed, just a basic roof like structure with the ends open. The top of the tent could be used inside and out as a projection screen for continuous laser light shows or advertising.

From a media/marketing perspective - play off the small town vibe of Indiana and how Indianapolis encompasses both the big city and small town feel in it's downtown. For example, Angola IN (pop. 7,000) in the NE corner of the state has a downtown just like Indy - only 1,000 times smaller. There is a circle monument, with a war statue and businesses all around. You could do an ariel pan out view saying "from small town Indiana to Indianapolis, some things remain the same" and then tie in whatever theme you're incorporating. Getting people involved throughout the state will be beneficial.

I just got back from Memphis and realized how just a 3-4 block street like Beale St can transform an entire city into party central. I'd recommend we erect a huge, heated tent down the middle of S. Meridian with openings to each bar and restaurant.

Second, we should turn Union Station into a casino (hopefully, permanently). The Super Bowl is the largest betting event in the world and a casino would fit right in, as well as distinguish us from the other bidders. A first class downtown casino would make those Super Bowl attendees forget about golf.

I would suggest a Bus Service similar to the Fishers Express during the events. This would help eliminate huge parking issues for both visitors and local residents. That is an issue we discovered when visiting South Beach for XLI.

Also, make sure to have some activities planned after the game, esp. important for the winning team. We were ready to celebrate after winning and there was nothing to do.

Don't forget the teens! Indiana Sports Corp does a great job at recruiting volunteers for all the amazing sporting events we host in Indy, but there are over 110,000 young people (14-22) that could easily be tapped as volunteers and ambassadors for an mammoth event like the Super Bowl. helpindyonline.com will help place over 3000 young hoosiers in meaningful community service this year and can be a great source for getting the young people in our area to become stakeholders in this event. Go Indy!

I'd hate to see downtown only get the attention - wouldn't it be cool if we had the 'Broad Ripple Express'? The Broad Ripple Express could be a free express route running every night between Broad Ripple and Downtown. This would open up quite a few more clubs and restaurants to visitors here in Indy!
